Girl with a Pearl Earring is Vermeer’s most famous painting. It is not a portrait, but a ‘tronie’ – a painting of an imaginary figure. Tronies depict a certain type or character; in this case a girl in exotic dress, wearing an oriental turban and an improbably large pearl in her ear.
Johannes Vermeer was the master of light. This is shown here in the softness of the girl’s face and the glimmers of light on her moist lips. And of course, the shining pearl.
@su Thank you Su, this portrait is widely used in Holland. Also by organizations, here one from Black Front (1) the text mentioned "Multiculture is another word for anti Dutch"
In the old days there was also a Black Front (2), I was not in favor of this. My feeling is more with the NSB (3).
Hereby some pictures of posters based on the portrait.
@JohanHollander those are great.
My mother had a print of this hanging somewhere, I think in the kitchen.
She liked art. I vaguely remember her buying a bunch of oil paintings and my father getting mad lol.
I always would like to see the tulip fields in Holland. I've only been there once, in Amsterdam but the airport, only. We flew on klm a lot for some reason.
Would like to see the countries and people in Europe safely!!!! Before it's too late.
@su Oil paintings are very popular in Holland,you have to wait a long time before they are worth anything(of course depends on who made them).
In Holland it is currently a big mess, in the big cities it's already 50/50(Dutch/nigger)Whole neighborhoods have been taken over,but in the countryside it is still quiet .
If you ever want to come to Holland,I can guide you to a good stay on a farm.Here is an example;
In Dutch with price at the bottom; https://hoevebouwlust.nl/overnachten/vakantiehuisjes/#verblijf
@JohanHollander I've done that before, stayed in a small "bed and breakfast" far away from tourists. That's the best vacation.
It seems like the country is where is Whites will make our last stand, if it comes down to it!
